A little history about WordPress. Although it started out as a blogging platform, WordPress can easily be configured and used in a much more general purpose way and is a very popular tool used my many millions of web sites across the Internet. Before I started using it I heard it had the reputation for being poorly written and buggy, but since I started using it as a development platform I’ve found it to be reliable and easy to work with. There are times when it’s procedural code style can be a bit old fashioned, but once you get used to it you find it is quick to turn ideas into working sites.
Personally, I am not a wordpress expert; I’ve been using it for about 18 months as a development platform, although I first set up wordpress sites in about 2006 when I worked for a small publishing company in Letchworth. What I’m aiming to do with this site is try to write up useful articles as I create new features on my other sites and expand my knowledge of WordPress.
